Membership: Paris Convention, Madrid Agreement, WIPO and TRIPS;

Classification: 10th Edition of the Nice Classification applies with exceptions;

Coverage: A SEPARATE APPLICATION should be filed for each class;

Rejection: Must be appealed within 60 days;

Publication: In the Gazette;

Opposition: 60 days as from the publication date;

Time Frame: 10 to 14 months from the filing date;

Duration: 10 years as from the filing date;

Renewal: For unlimited periods of 10 years each;

Grace Period: 6 months from the protection’s expiry date;

Penalty: Late renewal penalty is US$200.00;

Assignment: Possible;

Licensing: Possible;

Invalidation: Yes, if the mark has not been used for 5 consecutive years.

Requirements

NEW APPLICATION
  • a) Power of Attorney legalized to the Consulate of Egypt;
  • b) Applicant’s name, address and nationality;
  • c) List/s of goods and/or services;
  • d) Representation of the mark, preferably in jpeg format;
  • e) If priority is claimed, a certified copy of home application/registration.
  • *(a) could be submitted within 90 days as from the application’s filing date
RENEWAL
  • a) Power of Attorney legalized to the Consulate of Egypt;
  • b) A copy of the existing Certificate of Registration.
ASSIGNMENT
  • a) Power of Attorney legalized to the Consulate of Egypt;
  • b) A legalized Deed of Assignment;
  • c) A copy of the existing Certificate of Registration.
AMENDMENT
  • a) Power of Attorney legalized to the Consulate of Egypt;
  • b) A legalized document proving the amendment;
  • c) A copy of the existing Certificate of Registration.

Charges Details

  • A) Our charges are TRANSPARENT, so we DO NOT charge for any hidden or sudden costs;
  • B) Our charges are INCLUSIVE of:
  • a) Filing, publication and registration fees;
  • b) Local legalization of the Power of Attorney;
  • c) Late filing of the power of attorney;
  • d) Our professional charges;
  • e) English translation of the Certificate;
  • f) Delivery of the Certificate;
  • g) Translation of up to 100 words of the List/s of Goods/Services (Each additional 50 words or part thereof will be charged for US$50.00).
  • C) Each additional class filed simultaneously will be subject to a US$50.00 discount;
  • D) We bill filing charges when the application is filed, while the balance will be billed upon acceptance;
  • E) Minimum publication is for 100 words of the list of goods/services. Each additional 20 words or part thereof will be charged for US$35.00.
